Alexa Chung is celebrating small businesses this season, via the launch of her first bag.

The British model, designer and TV presenter has unveiled ‘The Bag', a powder-blue checked gingham tote, in partnership with Amex Shop Small, an initiative that celebrates the positive impact of small business owners on their local communities. Fabricated from blue gingham cotton canvas, the bag is the first to come from her eponymous fashion brand Alexa Chung, and comes in a compact, square shape featuring a simple monogrammed ‘A' in the bottom corner.

Proceeds from the bag's sales will be donated to Sarabande, a charitable foundation started by the late designer Lee Alexander McQueen that offers scholarships to promising creatives.

"This is the first bag we have created as a brand and I wanted it to reflect our goals as a company: to make things that are fun, classic, and quirky, but also easy and cool," Chung told Refinery29.

Chung debuted the first collection from her new fashion line back in May, focusing on contemporary footwear, jewelry and ready-to-wear pieces that emulate her aloof, It-girl style. She has previously designed fashion pieces for the British department store Marks & Spencer, under the name ‘Archives by Alexa', as well as collaborating on capsule collections for Nails Inc. and AG Jeans.
