After openings in London, Copenhagen and Brussels, H&M Group’s Arket  has announced its first Dutch brick-and-mortar location. On 1 October Dutch newspaper Het Parool reported that Arket will land at Koningsplein in Amsterdam.

From Spring 2018 Dutch customers will be able to shop at Arket’s three-story building, which will offer collections for men, women and children as well as accessories and interior collections. The 1,000 m2 store will also feature a vegetarian food café, based on the New Nordic Food Manifesto, blending traditional Scandinavian flavors with modern and global influences.

The H&M Group, consisting of brands such as Weekday, Monki and &Other Stories, first announced the new portfolio addition in March 2017. The first physical location opened in London’s Regent Street in August.

Arket is a premium brand of the H&M Group, with a higher price range than other brands in the group’s portfolio. The focus of the brand is on timeless pieces, rather than fast fashion. Arket is already available to Dutch customers via its web shop, which currently serves 18 markets.

The upcoming Arket Amsterdam will be housed at the former Scheltema building, a favorite bookstore for many locals that closed after 30 years in 2015. An exact date for the Spring 2018 opening is yet to be announced.
