Italian ready-to-wear label Blumarine is going full speed ahead with handbags and leather goods. The Blumarine and Blugirl brands are owned by fashion group Blufin, which has decided to commission the 'Blumarine Handbags' line to Compagnia delle Pelli. Blufin and the leather goods manufacturer signed a 4-year license agreement "for worldwide production and distribution," the former stated in a press release.

The line was formerly produced internally by Blumarine. To expand it further, especially abroad, Blufin chose to work with Compagnia delle Pelli, specialised in leather goods and based in Bergamo, northern Italy. Compagnia delle Pelli currently produces under license for La Martina and Cavalli Class, and in 2009 it diversified into apparel.

The collaboration will premiere with the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The plan is to work on the product side, expanding the range by targeting various consumer profiles, as well as on the distribution side, by accessing the specialised store channel.
