The Kardashian sisters announced via a statement on Kim Kardashian West's website on Thursday that after 12 years, they are closing all of their Dash clothing stores in LA, NY and Miami.

Kim made what she called a "bittersweet announcement" when she posted the update on her website. She wrote, "We've been busy running our own brands, as well as being moms and balancing work with our families. We know in our hearts that it's time to move on."

The Kardashians founded Dash in 2006 as a family business. In addition to opening store locations in three US cities, they created a spin-off tv show called Dash Dolls.

Kim said, "We've loved running Dash, but in the last few years, we've all grown so much individually."

While Khloé made news most recently for the birth of her first child, the sisters' personal brands are likely the underlying competing force that led them to make the decision to close Dash. All three sisters have apps and websites to support their personal brands which they are aggressively growing.

Kim recently launched a sold-out KKW Beauty collaboration with Mario Dedivanovic, KKW x Mario. She also has another beauty project with Glam Masters in her KKW x Argenis collaboration. Kourtney is reportedly working on her new project, Kourt, and in addition to her Good American denim brand, Khloé is reportedly rolling out her Koko Collection.

No official liquidation plans have been announced for the Dash stores, although Kim offered a 50% discount code for Dash this week. At the time it was offered as a promotion around sister Kourtney's birthday, however it could also be seen as a judiciously timed move to kick start the shuttering of the brick-and-mortar clothing business.
