Labello celebrates 100 years

Published

The name comes from the Latin “labium”, meaning lips, and “bellus”, meaning beautiful… It is of course Labello, the most famous lip-palm brand, which is celebrating its centenary.

The first lip-balm from Labello appeared in 1909, but it was not until the 20’s that the packaging was changed and adopted a form which would come to be the ancestor of the lip-balm stick. Despite this step, lip-balm lovers had to wait until 1973 for the product to be marketed in its current, and now classic, blue tube form.

To celebrate its centenary, the German manufacturer of Labello, Beiersdorf, has decided to call on creative minds. Certain websites, such as the German and Dutch label’s websites, are offering Internet users the chance to customise the famous stick and choose a colour for the contents with the incentive that the best design will be produced and marketed in limited edition.
