Glossier's founder and CEO Emily Weiss has named Stitch Fix CEO Katrina Lake as Glossier's first independent board member, an addition that stokes rumors of a possible future IPO for the millennial-favorite beauty brand.

Weiss made the announcement via Twitter, pointing out that "Katrina is the only woman to lead a tech IPO last year."

Weiss also said she has been inspired by Lake as an operator and commended the "excellent job [Lake has] done scaling Stitch Fix while staying so close to the customer."

Glossier is a digital-first beauty brand that has ascended to cult popularity, particularly among younger consumers. It has been called the "millennials’ Estée Lauder," boasting year-over-year sales with 600% growth. As the leader of a tech-focused brand, Lake's insight should help continue Glossier's growth and would come in handy in the case of a future IPO.

Stitch Fix was founded seven years ago and has become a top name in curated apparel subscription services. The company went public in November and is currently valued at $2.7 billion.

Lake also commented on her appointment via Twitter, saying that she uses Glossier products every day and has been interested in the brand since before she met Weiss.

She joins Weiss, president Henry Davis, and three venture capital investors on the board. Lake is currently the only independent director.
