Allbirds enlists Lindsay Lohan for its new "Unexpected Athlete" campaign
American actress and singer Lindsay Lohan has been chosen by shoe brand Allbirds as the face of the new limited edition of its most successful running shoe to date, the Tree Flyer.
For the occasion, the star appears in a video entitled "Unexpected Athlete", and in which she ironizes her selection as an ambassador, commenting that as a "running spokesperson, I am a little unexpected".
A video that shows a personal side of the actress; her love for peanut butter cookies; makes a few winks to her career in the series Mean Girls and references her faux-pas on social networks, a campaign inviting a more lighthearted approach to life. A similar campaign style has been seen at Ugg, which regularly collaborates with star talent, most recently Cher, and uses humor and offbeat in its campaigns.
Filmed in a Californian house, Lohan, who recently said she has been living in Dubai for a few years and going back and forth to New York, is promoting the latest model, "Lux Pink", the latest running shoe by Allbirds, made without plastic.
Despite a slowdown in international sales, the sustainable sneaker brand has experienced strong sales growth in the United States, with an increase of 26% recorded in the first quarter. The brand nevertheless retained a net loss of $21.9 million.
