Another day, another recycling initiative on the part of a clothing retailer. This time it’s Blacks Outdoors, which has teamed up with The British Heart Foundation to offer a discount to customers who donate their unwanted clothing and footwear within Blacks stores, in aid of the charity. It’s offering 15% off all purchases in-store to those who make a donation.

Only this week, Burberry said it has teamed up with The RealReal in the US to encourage consumers to resell their unwanted Burberry items. And John Lewis has also announced an initiative that will see consumers who recycle fashion through the retailer being paid £3 per piece to put towards further purchases.

From this week, Blacks Outdoors said “customers who shop in-store with Blacks will be eligible to receive a 15% discount off their in-store purchases, by donating their quality unwanted clothing and footwear. Donations will be collected from Blacks and sent to one of British Heart Foundation’s 750 nationwide shops and stores.”

Blacks has 58 stores on UK high streets and in retail parks and among those taking part are Glasgow, Manchester, six London-based stores, and Aintree, its newest shop which opened earlier this year.

Customers who donate within the shops will be able to receive discounts from some of the most popular outdoor brands including The North Face, Berghaus and Peter Storm.
