After the recent renewal of its partnership with Banana Republic and Hugo Boss, a new major deal has emerged for Safilo. The Italian group specializing in high-end eyewear, announced an international licensing agreement for the design, production and distribution of eyeglasses frames and sunglasses for Bobbi Brown, the iconic cosmetics company in New York, founded by make-up artist Bobbi Brown in 1991 and owned by Estée Lauder since 1995.

“I am excited to embark on this new journey with Safilo. As a makeup artist, I have looked at women’s faces for over 20 years and believe that my beauty expertise will translate naturally into eyewear, identifying the best silhouettes and colors for a woman’s face shape, skin tone, and lifestyle,” said the famous makeup artist and chief creative officer of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

“We are very pleased to announce this new partnership with Bobbi Brown, a makeup industry maverick who believes that beauty isn’t about looking perfect, but about celebrating a woman’s individuality,” said Safilo CEO Roberto Vedovotto in a statement. “We want to replicate the huge success Estée Lauder is having with this brand by translating into her new eyewear collection a modern but classical feel designed to enhance a woman’s own innate beauty.”

The agreement will start in spring 2014 with a first collection of optical eyewear and sunglasses and is scheduled to remain in effect until December 31, 2018.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics currently has more than 1,000 points of sales in 60 countries and 28 free-standing stores. The Safilo Group is internationally active through 30 subsidiaries. It manufactures and sells its own collections (Safilo, Carrera, Polaroid, etc.) as well as many licensed brand collections including Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and St. Lawrence.
