The Council of Fashion Designers of America is working on its international network. The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which is dedicated to promoting young designers, has just announced the launch of a China exchange programme. Although further details are yet to be disclosed, the exchange should begin in the next few months. It will send American designers to China to discover more about the Chinese fashion industry, while Chinese designers will go to the United States to get to know the American market.

This is the second initiative that CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund have taken this year to get American designers to explore the international market. Only a few days ago, the second edition of bi-annual showroom ‘Americans in Paris’ took place at the Galerie Joyce during Paris Fashion Week.

Following on the footsteps of its Milanese and Parisian counterparts, who are already very active internationally, the CFDA is encouraging its emerging designers to expand their horizons internationally. Despite its large size, the US can no longer be the only market where young designers can grow.
