US streetwear label Carhartt WIP has collaborated with Russian skate brand Paccbet on a 12-piece capsule that references the skater scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s.

The capsule reinterprets Carhartt WIP staples through the Russian skate scene - PACCBET

The collection aims to reimagine Carhartt WIP classics through the aesthetic of Russia’s growing skate scene, celebrating bold graphics and loose, oversized fits. The resulting collection includes a variation on the Carhartt WIP Master Pant featuring a new colorway, a reproportioned version of the brand’s Detroit Jacket in washed denim and a Pocket T-Shirt displaying co-branded detailing.

In a release, the brands highlighted the capsule’s “playful subversiveness”, describing the overall feel of the pieces as “as if Paccbet has hijacked a Carhartt WIP collection.” Accordingly, the Russian brand’s name appears throughout the collection, spelled out in Carhartt WIP’s signature font.

Paccbet – pronounced “Rassviet” (“Sunrise” in Russian) – was founded in Moscow in 2016 by Gosha Rubchinskiy and a group of skaters and creatives. The brand is rooted in Russian youth culture and the country’s thriving skate scene.

Founded in 1989, Carhartt Work In Progress (Carhartt WIP) is the streetwear label of Dearborn, Michigan-based work apparel company Carhartt. Popular with subcultures the world over, the brand frequently references music and skateboarding, and has previously collaborated with A Bathing Ape and Converse.

The collection will launch on January 24, and will be available at Dover Street Market and Carhartt WIP stores, as well as selected skate retailers. The pieces will also be sold at the Paccbet x Carhartt WIP Pop-up which opens at October Store in Moscow on January 27.

The brands will host a global preview event at Carhartt WIP’s Paris, Le Marais store on January 23.
