Daniel Hatton, CEO of the London-based non-profit organisation, said Gingerich will act as an anchor for the CFC in Canada, helping “champion the Canadian industry’s interest at every corner”.

The CFC is a fashion body of 54 nations spanning the Pacific, Africa, Caribbean & Americas, Europe and Asia. Dedicated to promoting and developing the Commonwealth Fashion Industries, it offers a number of programmes in collaboration with its members to support the shift towards sustainable fashion, fashion education and responsible trade.

Gingerich brings over 35 years of fashion business experience. He served as director of the Fashion Group International Toronto for seven years, and currently leads the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I feel privileged to enable our fashion community to have the global recognition it deserves. I’m committed to maintaining the CFC’s reputation for empowerment and education here at home while continuing to establish the CFC as a creative hub in a wide variety of artistic mediums.”

The board of the Commonwealth Fashion Council added: “Having a diverse board of directors is fundamental to the success and delivery of the CFC’s shared agenda. The board of the CFC very much look forward to continuing the vision of the CFC; more so empowered by having Roger, on board with us.”
