A new travel bag brand has just launched in the UK with the debut of Geofre, which is being described as a “functional luxury brand designed for the needs of modern professionals.”

Geofre

It’s the brainchild of design consultant Richard Bayliss-Ibram, who has spent more than two decades working in the luxury furniture sector and has also created interiors for brands including Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

It’s a genderless collection made from vegetable-tanned leathers sourced in Spain with manufacturing taking place in Italy in a third generation factory specialising in artisan leather goods.

The brand launches with a range of luxury multiway bags in two sizes, and available in four different colours including navy, grey, sand and tan. Priced in the ultra-luxury segment, the Work Bag is £1,350 and the larger Weekend bag is £1,550 with both equipped with removable interior bags that can be used together or separately. As well as the adjustable strap lengths and removable sleeves and pockets, they have shirt clips “to keep your clothes freshly pressed among other clever twists.”

The products are currently available only on the www.geofre.com website.

Bayliss-Ibram said the launch is a culmination of more than 20 years spent “observing and designing for the intimate ways we interact with our environments, how we travel and work, and what luxury means in the context of modern life.”

He added: “I recognise that if you make a product to the very highest standard and with the very best materials you will have a market, but that product must be comprehensively functional, bringing practical convenience and flawless style in equal measure to the everyday life of the person who owns it.”

The move into bags was a logical extension after spending much of his career travelling extensively throughout Europe sourcing materials and products for furniture and interior design projects.

Bayliss-Ibram said he was consistently disappointed by “the lack of carry-on luggage successfully combining aesthetics and practicality.”

The brand name Geofre was from his grandfather’s forename as he said he was “a man who exuded effortless glamour and elegance.”
