Fast Retailing is making a decided effort to manage Uniqlo’s development in Europe to the best of its abilities. The Japanese group has just created the position of CEO of Uniqlo Europe, which has been given to Berndt Hauptkorn. He’s known in the luxury sector for having been CEO of first Labelux from 2007 to 2009 and then Bally, the latter having been taken over by Labelux in 2008. Prior to joining the Austrian holdings company (Derek Lam, Jimmy Choo, Bally, Belstaff), he had spent a number of years at the Boston Consulting Group.

At Fast Retailing he will report to Nobue Domae, the group’s vice-president, and to Tasashi Yanai, CEO. He will be working closely in Europe with Takao Kuwahara, Hidenobu Sanada and Taku Morikawa, who head up Uniqlo in Great Britain, France and Russia respectively.
