After a two-year absence from the Paris schedule, English fashion designer Gareth Pugh is making a comeback this season but in London.

The designer has announced that he has designed 13 new looks inspired by the interplay between fashion, music and film, which will be presented at a live exhibition taking place at Christie’s London during London Fashion Week.

The collection is part of a major creative project involving collaborations with a cast of artists, activists and change-makers from across the UK.

Titled ‘The Reconstruction’, the project includes 13 stills and 13 fashion films shot by fashion photographer Nick Knight, as well as a series of virtual landscapes from digital artist Jon Emmony.

The inspiration behind the collection – fashion’s new “frontierland” – is explored in a feature-length fashion documentary written by Pugh’s husband and creative co-director Carson McColl.

Key looks from the collection, accompanied by Knight’s imagery, will be featured in the live exhibition, which is open to the public from this Thursday with tickets priced at £10.

But none of the looks will be for sale. Instead, Pugh has reimagined the designs into a jersey capsule collection featuring a series of prints designed in collaboration with emerging designer Melissa Mehrtens.

The limited-edition range will be sold for £75 in an exclusive partnership with HIT + RUN, with proceeds going to Refuge, a charity that provides specialist support to women and children escaping domestic violence.
