Luxury goods group Hermès has announced on Wednesday the acquisition of an interest in the footwear and fashion accessories label Pierre Hardy.

The scale of the stake acquired by Hermès was not specified. The luxury label simply stated that it is a 'minority interest'.

"The agreement underlines Hermès' willingness to contribute to the worldwide expansion of the Pierre Hardy label, and confirms the close, constructive relationship of trust established over the course of the years between Hermès and Pierre Hardy," the luxury label has stated in a press release.

Pierre Hardy, founder and creative director of the eponymous brand, has in fact been designing footwear collections for Hermès since 1990, and jewellery since 2001.

"I am very happy, and very proud, of this alliance with an exceptional fashion house such as Hermès. It is the natural extension of a creative collaboration lasting for 25 years," stated Pierre Hardy, cited in the press release.
