Since becoming CEO at Hugo Boss earlier this year, Daniel Grieder has established Asia, and particularly the Chinese market, as a top strategic priority for the business. In line with this focus, the Metzingen-based luxury fashion company has now announced the appointment of Judith Sun as its new managing director for Greater China.

Having joined the company in October, Sun is responsible for managing the entirety of Hugo Boss’ business in China and for overseeing the implementation of the brand’s strategic vision on this essential market. She will also be tasked with driving the development of the company’s retail, wholesale and digital businesses in China.

Sun brings extensive experience to her new role at Hugo Boss, having previously helped a number of Western brands boost their profiles on the Chinese market. Most recently she served as managing director of Swarovski China, a role that she held from November 2017 to September of this year.

Sun, who holds an EMBA from Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin Business School, began her career in 1996. Her previous experience also includes time spent in top regional leadership roles at Levi Strauss, Lee Cooper and Adidas, where she spent 10 years, from 2001 to 2010.

According to preliminary figures, Hugo Boss achieved 755 million euros in revenues in the third quarter. This represents an increase of 42% in constant currencies when compared to the same period in the previous year, progress that the company described as evidence of “further noticeable recovery in global business.”

Looking forward, Hugo Boss currently expects to report constant-currency sales growth of approximately 40% in its full-year revenues. Previously, the company had predicted growth of between 30% and 35%.
