Upscale retailer Flannels is launching a new store concept and it will premiere at Intu’s Merry Hill mall near Birmingham. It will showcase an edit of high-end fashion brands for customers in the West Midlands when it opens on the upper level of the mall in December.

The store concept, designed by Argent (which is the property specialist behind the recently-opened Coal Drops Yard in London), will feature “custom bold prints and fabrics that can be interchanged to create a whole new experience, allowing the store to evolve throughout the seasons.” There will also be bespoke marble inlay flooring consisting of Tinos Verde, Antique brown and Bianco vein marble.

The company is putting investment into the entrance and till point areas and said a “luxury click & collect service will launch in the store,” although it didn’t give details of how this would differ from regular click & collect services.

Nick Round, regional managing director at Intu, said the landlord has “transformed a key part of the centre to create a brilliant new space where Flannels’ new concept store can really thrive.”

Flannels head of brand Carl Tallents added that the mall “is a key destination for us and offers the opportunity to reach customers in new parts of the country as a result of its 18 million a year footfall.”

Into took full ownership of Merry Hill in 2016 and has since signed up a number of major names at the centre. Next opened one of its biggest stores in the country there in the summer while upcoming openings include Timberland and Footlocker. The former will open a 2,150 sq ft shop this month and the latter is taking 9,600 sq ft for a new store.
