Issa Rae has been unveiled as the host of the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards in Partnership with Swarovski.

The actress, writer and director will head to the Brooklyn Museum on June 4 to host the ceremony, which will be held in the iconic location for the first time in its history.

"Issa Rae is leading a new generation of performers who use their voice and humor to discuss social topics in a way that is relatable and poignant," said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA, in a post published on the CFDA website.

The annual awards ceremony is designed to celebrate the best of the US fashion industry, with last year's big-name winners including makeup artist Pat McGrath, Raf Simons and Demna Gvasalia. The nominees for the 2018 edition will be announced on March 15.

The move is symbolic of Rae's growing star power. Since shooting to fame in 2011 with her highly successful web series "Awkward Black Girl," Rae has published a best-selling memoir, as well as finding the time to co-write and star in the HBO series "Insecure." Last fall, cosmetics giant CoverGirl also snapped her up as an ambassador.
