Milan-based brand La DoubleJ has named “influential creative leader” Julia Leach its Chief Brand Officer. Having joined this week, she’ll work with founders JJ Martin and Andrea Ciccoli “to realise their creative and business goals, which include marketing and content innovation, international growth, and category expansion with a commitment to their Made in Italy foundation”.

We’re told Leach has spent her career “at the intersection of fashion, technology, design, and retail”. She led the launch of the Apple Watch as Executive Creative Director. And as Chief Creative Officer, was responsible for the transformation of clean beauty brand, Beautycounter.

Most recently, “she worked alongside the leaders of highly visible global brands, including Ralph Lauren, Gap, and Target, and today’s most innovative brands outside of fashion, including Apeel Sciences and Quiet Logistics, as a strategic creative advisor”.

She also has entrepreneurial experience as co-founder of Sublime, a strategic brand studio, and Chance, a lifestyle brand.

And in addition to that undeniably impressive CV, the formative years of her career were spent working alongside Kate and Andy Spade, scaling their brand over the course of a decade.

Leach’s role is a new one for the business and comes as the two founders have made other important recent hires, including Luca Voarino as MD, and Jeanne Labib-Lamour as Design Director.

Voarino joined the brand after “extensive leadership engagements” with Balenciaga, Marni, and Pucci. As a RTW designer, Amour was most recently the design lead at Bally, and previously held senior key roles at Balenciaga, Moncler, Emanuel Ungaro, and Giambatista Valli.
