Content may be shifting online at an ever faster pace but London department store Liberty is going old-school and has launched a new bi-annual beauty newspaper called The Hall.

Beauty has always been a key category for the retailer but it has been diving deeper of late and the launch comes less than a year after it ramped up its operations with the debut of subscription service The Beauty Drop.

The Hall will be sent to 50,000 registered Liberty Loyalty customers two times a year and will also be available for visitors in the West End store’s beauty hall.

It will provide breaking beauty news, as well as trends and practical advice, plus reviews from real users and expert recommendations.

The first edition has been guest edited by make-up artist Gucci Westman and includes features on the return of lipstick, how to master the art of bath-scaping, as well as fragrance horoscopes from its in-house astrologer Lady Liberty.

Of course, the online element hasn't been neglected and QR codes are included throughout the publication in a first for the retailer. They will allow customers to access shop edit’s on Liberty’s webstore.

The launch — which in another nod to new tech is being supported by a social media campaign — come shortly after the company appointed Shannon Peter to work as editor on The Hall, alongside Sophie Beresiner, Liberty’s global head of content and editor-in-chief.
