The brand launched its store on Tmall on March 4, and expectations for it are high. Monki Managing Director Lea Rytz Goldman said this is the beginning of a great collaboration between Monki and Tmall, and added: "This is a fantastic way for us to respond to the appreciation and demand from our Chinese fans by making Monki's fashion available to everyone in China."

Liu Xiuyun, the General Manager for fashion on Tmall.com, said Monki is a good fit for Tmall: "Tmall is always looking for exciting young brands like Monki to make them available for a wider audience." He said Tmall brings its knowledge of the Chinese consumer market, and a well-functioning web platform, to the collaboration.

Monki opened its first concept store in China in 2010, and since then it's expanded rapidly. It now has 37 stores in China, as well as 100 European stores.
