Nike on Thursday unveiled its new uniforms for football, basketball, and track & field. The sportswear giant held a global event in New York City to debut the new uniforms for the USA, Brazil and China.

The national uniforms use Nike’s new “System of Performance”, a full-body system constructed to help athletes achieve peak performance. Each piece contributes to the goals of thermoregulation: sweat management, breathability, and freedom of movement. The system will appear in over 20 sports this summer and will be part of 20 countries’ uniforms.

The new football uniform is made with new lightweight and breathable Nike Aeroswift technology that is 10% lighter, dries 25% faster and has 50% more stretch than previous kits. Customizable Nike Mercurial Lightspeed shin guard sleeves complete the uniform in addition to NikeGrip socks with non-slip traction and the Nike Mercurial Vapor boot.

Like the football uniform, the basketball uniform uses Nike Aeroswift technology as well as a Nike FlyVent waistband on shorts that improves breathability, eliminates drawstrings and opens up movement. Lastly, the track & field uniform is equipped with Nike AeroBlades, a never-before-seen aerodynamic technology that offers drag reduction.

The design team was inspired by Brazilian culture and heritage especially for the basketball and track & field uniforms. Each country’s flag colors are featured in the uniforms on jersey names and mesh numbers.
