Interested applicants can now apply for a range of sales positions in areas including women’s apparel, designer fashion, shoes, beauty and kid’s, as well as a number of support roles in building services, housekeeping and catering, among others, via the Nordstrom careers website.

Those who are successful in securing a position can look forward to a transit subsidy, a merchandise discount and, when eligible, medical coverage, while working at a company which claims to operate a strong “promote from within” policy.

“The opening of the Nordstrom NYC Flagship is a significant milestone in our company's history,” said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores at Nordstrom, in a release. “We're putting together a world-class team of results-driven individuals who love to sell fashion and make customers feel good. We hire the best people and are proud to have a reputation for service. We're excited to bring our customer-obsessed approach to one of the greatest shopping destinations in the world.”

The company’s call for “customer-obsessed employees” in the same press release is just the latest indication of the customer-focused, experiential philosophy behind the upcoming flagship, which has been in the pipeline since 2012.

Nordstrom’s first full-line flagship in the Big Apple, the 320,000-square-foot store promises to offer visitors a range of differentiated services and digital experiences when it opens its doors across the road from the retailer’s first-ever standalone men’s flagship (a more modest 47,000-square-foot affair) later this year.

As it pushes forward with its expansion in NYC, Nordstrom will also be opening two Nordstrom Local service hubs in the city this fall.

For the first quarter ended May 4, 2019, the company reported net earnings of $37 million on net sales of $3.35 billion, down 3.5% from the previous year.

Nordstrom’s New York flagship store is scheduled to open on October 24, 2019.
