The organisers of Harrogate Bridal Show have confirmed that the event will be postponed to 2021, with a virtual showroom replacing the original October conference.

The show, which has been held in September for the past 30 years, had set a new date for this year in light of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Over 350 collections from the world’s leading bridal designers were set to be featured at the 2020 event, which was due to take place on 4-6 October at the Yorkshire Event Centre.

Touted as the UK’s largest bridal fashion event, Harrogate Bridal Show was due to be one of the first industry exhibitions to take place post-lockdown.

Commenting on the decision, organisers said: “It is with great regret to inform you all that the 2020 edition of the Harrogate Bridal Show, due to take place on 4-6 October, has been postponed to 2021.

“We were excited to re-unite the bridal community in the home of bridal this year, however in light of recent developments, we no longer feel comfortable running the event this year.”

However, the event has teamed up with Bridal Buyer to launch a Virtual Showroom at the beginning of October. The platform will provide a buying and networking platform for the sector, and retailers will be able to browse collections from the biggest names in bridal, compare gowns and connect with suppliers. Pre-recorded videos will show how the dresses move on models to help buyers with their purchasing decisions.
