Following recent Facebook and Twitter posts by the French designer of exclusive pictures of work in progress at his design studio, on Wednesday the fruits of the house's efforts were presented for all to see.

Frank Sorbier proved true to form after tweeting that Paris was in store for an explosion of color, pigments and fabrics.

Luxuriant flora and fauna is emerging as a key trend on the Spring haute couture runways, and like Chanel and Viktor&Rolf, Sorbier certainly followed suit.

Tropical birds were central to his collection of intricately embroidered pieces for Spring 2015. This comes as no surprise since our feathered friends, especially the muscicapa, an ashy-breasted flycatcher, are the resident pets at the Sorbier design studio. Greeting guests for the finale of his show at the Oratory of the Louvre, the couturier wore a message t-shirt with a black and white photograph of one of his beloved tropical birds.

Sorbier produced several flowing ethereal gowns. One striking design featured a dipped hem and appliqués resembling cross sections of tree stumps while other pieces were adorned with rich plumages and twirling tendrils of chiffon.

Each outfit looked as it had taken a lifetime to create -- such intricacy at every level of the creative process is what has come to be expected from the label.

The couturier recently gave a rare interview on French financial news channel, BFM TV. Sorbier spoke about the challenges of keeping a living heritage fashion business alive, particularly when you are a small luxury label that still strives to produce everything in-house.

Sorbier's highly individual brand of fashion is not as internationally well-known as some Parisian haute couture houses. The label largely owes its domestic success to French pop stars Johnny Hallyday, Mylène Farmer and Shy'm who have remained extremely loyal clients.
