Upscale regional department store group Sandersons has appointed a new manager for its Five Valleys boutique store in Stroud.

Benjamin Lappin

Benjamin Lappin takes up the post following the promotion of former store manager Simon Bateman, who becomes Sandersons’ Logistics Manager supporting the company’s multi-million-pound online platform.

He will head a 10-strong team across all departments -- ladies’ and men’s fashion, accessories, beauty and fragrance.

Lappin joins with more than 15 years’ retail experience “which will be used to further develop the store and team”, Sandersons said.

Savile Row trained, and previously national manager for several well-known (unnamed) menswear brands, looking after 20 concessions he's “therefore familiar with the upmarket department store format”.

For the last three years he has worked as manager for independent menswear store Brook Taverner, based in Cirencester.

Lappin said: “This store and role appealed greatly to me as my background is in premium and luxury retail, which is definitely what customers can expect to find at Sandersons.

“I am looking forward to working with the team and enhancing our customers experience at what is an exciting time for the store with new brands joining in the autumn, such as Hugo Boss.”

Sandersons founder Mark Dransfield said: “Benjamin brings a wealth of retail and fashion experience ensuring our customers continue to receive the exceptional service they have grown to expect from Sandersons.”

Sandersons, which also has stores in north Sheffield and Morpeth, Northumberland, is preparing to open on seven days a week from 11 June, citing customer demand.

The chain is home to brands that include Barbour, Barbour International, Holland Cooper, Pennyblack, Jacob Cohen, Hackett and soon, Hugo Boss, as mentioned. The store has also built up a reputation for luxury fragrances with brands including Parfums de Marly, House of Oud, Atkinsons and Chanel.
