Luxury essentials brand Sunspel announced on Friday the opening of its New York City flagship, as the British marque expands across the U.S.

Located at 781 Madison Avenue in New York’s Upper East Side, the new space covers 810 square feet and embodies a contemporary design in neutral tones. Alongside light wooden rack details and off-white walls, shoppers will find Sunspel's full collection of men’s and womenswear, including its Classic T-shirt and Riviera Polo Shirt, worn by James Bond.

“The U.S. is an essential element of our international growth strategy and opening our new boutique on Madison Avenue is an important part of that strategy," said CEO and owner of Sunspel, Nicholas Brooke.

"It has always been a strong e-commerce market but we believe firmly in physical retail spaces where customers can touch and feel the quality of our products and fully experience our brand. We are looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers to our new Madison Avenue store.”

The store opening also returns the British brand to Madison Avenue, after having been stock in department store Barneys New York since the 50s. It joins Sunspel's Soho location in the Big Apple.

Founded in 1860 in Nottingham, Sunspel describes itself as an "innovative British brand with a contemporary edge."

Sunspel claims to be the only British brand that makes T-shirts in its own factory in the UK, one that it has occupied since 1937.

In addition to its two New York locations, Sunspel operates eight London standalone and is stocked in department stores in France, Sweden, the U.S., and Canada.
