Austrian crystal ware manufacturer Swarovski has appointed David Wielemans as its new chief financial officer, effective from April 2023. Wielemans will join the group's executive committee, reporting to CEO Alexis Nasard. He is taking over from Frederik Westring, currently CFO ad interim, who will leave the group at the end of June. Until then, Westring will continue to oversee various special projects, reporting to Nasard.

“I’m delighted to join the Swarovski world. The combination of an iconic brand, fashion and retail expertise and a deep manufacturing savoir-faire makes Swarovski unique. I look forward to contributing to the success of the LUXignite strategy, and to anchoring the group's robust financials together with Alexis and all our Swarovski colleagues,” said Wielemans in a press release.

Wielemans is an experienced senior executive, with a career spanning the luxury and retail sectors and with extensive financial expertise. In his most recent posts, he was co-CFO for EssilorLuxottica, and group CFO for Essilor International. Wielemans holds a masters degree in finance and accounting (DECF) from CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) in Paris.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of this well-rounded and experienced leader. The breadth and depth of his expertise align perfectly with Swarovski’s LUXignite strategy and will be a key asset as we continue our luxurisation journey toward sustainable, profitable growth,” said Nasard. “All of us at Swarovski are grateful for the contribution that Frederik Westring has made to the group in the last six years. He played a key role in defining our new strategy and boosting our results,” he added.
