On Thursday 30 November, fashion label Distrikt Norrebro unveiled its first standalone store in The Hague. Distrikt Norrebro is a concept from Dutch retailer The Sting and was formerly only available via the retailer.

Distrikt Norrebro announced the new store on Instagram, captioning: “We are open now! 1st Distrikt store in The Hague, Venestraat 4.” The label describes itself as a ‘Scandinavian-inspired brand,’ presenting its clothes and store concept in a minimalistic style. Distrikt Norrebro offers collections for men and women. Collections consist of jackets, jeans, trousers, tops, sweaters, dresses, skirts and underwear as well as accessories, including sneakers bags, scarves and beanies. Prices range between €7.95 and €189.95.

After a few years of declining sales, due to the launch of its online store and international expansion, The Sting announced its focus on new concepts in 2016. These new concepts are targeted towards a younger generation and include independent stores for The Sting’s own brands, such as Distrikt Norrebro, Costes and Cotton Club. The latter opened its first branch in Amsterdam in September, followed by a Nijmegen branch a month later. Distrikt Norrebro also aims to open more stores across the Netherlands in 2018.

Herman Franzen founded The Sting in 1982 and launched its first store in Tilburg. The retailer offers its own brands, such as Distrikt Women, Miss America, Required and Lost Minds to men and women. In 2013 The Sting launched its first standalone store for its own brand concept (Costes). Since 2007, the multi-brand retailer operates stores outside of the Netherlands, with branches in Belgium, Germany and England.
