Dior has teamed up with seven different artists to reimagine its classic 'Lady Dior' handbag.

Back in June, the French fashion house partnered with British contemporary artist Marc Quinn on a limited edition accessories collection that included several versions of the bag incorporating his own oil paintings, to mark the opening of the brand's London boutique. Dior has now extended the invitation to a further six artists from the US and the UK to put their own spin on the bag, as well as various scarves, key chains and card holders. According to WWD, no more than 100 examples of each will be made available.

Quinn has created a new collection of pieces featuring floral prints drawn from his own still life paintings, focusing on violet, white and black orchids. He has also designed a silver leather version of the bag featuring petals worked in relief, and a piece centered on the bright blue iris of an eye.

Brooklyn-based photographer Matthew Porter used marquetry to create his automobile-inspired design, featuring a car suspended in mid-air, while fellow American Daniel Gordon revisited his 'Cannage' motif to come up with a spontaneous, graphic print produced in black and white mink fur. UK creative Mat Collishaw, whose work often references nature, came up with a design incorporating two butterflies with velvety soft wings, and British Jason Martin created 3D undulating 'curves' across his version of the bag, to suggest organic movement. Ian Davenport, also from the UK, reinterpreted his 'Colorfall' painting series, made by using syringes to inject paint onto aluminum or stainless steel, to create one of his bags. Another artist focusing on color was Chris Martin, whose vibrant bag design was derived from his artwork 'Frog 1'.

The bags and accessories will go on show at a pop-up installation in Miami during Art Basel on November 29, before heading to LA, Korea, London, China, Dubai and Paris.
