Palm Springs is changing. Since the 2020 pandemic, the Californian city has experienced spectacular growth in the retail and hotel sectors, and has just seen the opening of The Webster's ninth store in the world on April 13. The new store is the brand's fourth in California, following the 2020 openings in Los Angeles and Montecito at Rosewood Miramar Beach.

The Webster's ninth store has opened in Palm Springs

The 4,200-square-foot storefront is a 1970s property with strong structural details representative of Palm Springs's notorious stylistic history. It was renovated by French interior designer Stéphane Parmentier. This is the third store to be designed by Parmentier, “building continuity among The Webster store design,” explained The Webster team, with key design elements found in Montecito and Toronto, connecting the three boutiques while still bringing a unique design to each location, that reflects the community it is set in.

“Each The Webster project is approached with such heart and emotion," said Parmentier. “Every detail has a meaningful purpose, exuding luxury while creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all. The inspiration for The Webster in Palm Springs is drawn from Brazil, more specifically, strong references to design from Saõ Paulo and Brasília, such as elements of geometric and timeless architecture.”

The store features two seating areas that are a tribute to Brazilian designer Oscar Niemeyer, with architectural chairs upholstered in fabrics in off-white, light pink, and mustard, dark brown leather, and rich wood hues. The pink cloud ceiling captivates the essence of Copacabana sunsets and is an ode to The Webster’s signature pink. The store is lined with shelving and rails that are rendered in white sand-inspired fabric, reminiscent of the beach and buildings of Brasília, while contrasting Amazonian earth color flooring runs throughout.

All The Webster boutiques also showcase a unique and personal art and sculpture collection, including what Hériard Dubreuil calls her “good luck charms” featuring pieces from her husband, artist Aaron Young.

“It is truly an incredible feeling to continue growing our physical footprint, following our clients where their lifestyle takes them, and introducing new clients to The Webster experience, especially in a dream setting like Palm Springs. This desert oasis embodies so much of The Webster brand, from art, design, and culture to the following of our love of sunshine that comes from our Miami heritage. Launching in Palm Springs truly completes our California expansion which has been a focus for the company over the last few years, and we are so excited about the opportunities that this new city has to offer,” said the French entrepreneur.

Opening at the same time as Coachella and the bi-annual art exhibit, Desert X, the uptown Palm Springs location has immersed itself perfectly into its surroundings.
