Trussardi is picking things up in the watch sector. As announced by the Italian label in July, it is launching a collection of "Swiss Made" watches, made and distributed by Italian jeweller-watchmaker Morellato, which expects to reach annual revenue of 10 million euros within three years.

The premiere collection, comprised of ten watches for men and eight watches for women with anti-reflective sapphire glass, hand-carved stainless steel casing, water resistant up to 10 atmospheres, was unveiled this Wednesday in Milan. It will only be available in a few select Trussardi stores at first.

"As of spring 2015, we will be expanding in the specialised sales channel while maintaining a very selective approach. We have already noted a certain interest from Russian buyers, but also from the Middle East, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Asia-Pacific zone," said the CEO of Morellato, Massimo Carraro.

The prices will reflect the house's slogan, meaning "effortless elegance", ranging from 500 to 2,000 euros. "These are watches made in Switzerland of course, but they highlight the Italian heritage, from the design to the style, created with the know-how of our artisans," the CEO added.

"We are both leather specialists. Trussardi was a glove maker to start with while Morellato was started as a leather straps for watches maker and is still a leader in this segment," he noted.

"Our goal is not to sell watches but rather a certain idea of Trussardi taste. It is about a classic collection, timeless and elegant but contemporary, which reflects the ideal summary of our values," said Gaia Trussardi, Creative Director of the House, who also designed the collection of watches.

"Trussardi was already present in the watch segment in the 1980s. The return to this diversification reinforces the path taken these past few years to build a cross-disciplinary lifestyle company," added her brother Tomaso, CEO of the Trussardi group.

Morellato is one of the last Italian held jewellery and watch groups. It is present on the market with its own brands (Morellato, Sector, Philip Watch, Pianegonda, Chronostar and the Bluespirit chain) and also with brands under license, such as Just Cavalli, Maserati, John Galliano and Pepe Jeans London.
