With more than 15 million followers on his Instagram account, Zayn Malik did not fail to generate a buzz when he posted his picture alongside Donatella Versace, thanking her for welcoming him into the Versus Versace family!

The former star of cult band One Direction is not the fashion label's new creative director, as his countless fans have instantly assumed, he will simply lend his image to Versus Versace and work on a collaboration with the Italian label. Yet, the connection between the young British celebrity and the prestigious fashion house is already a worldwide sensation.

Image-wise, it is an excellent operation for Versace, since this season the label has lost the talented creative director of the Versus Versace line, Anthony Vaccarello, who left to join Saint Laurent.

For the time being, the label has announced that Zayn Malik will design, "working closely with Creative Director Donatella Versace," a capsule collection designated “Zayn X Versus" for men and women.

The mini-collection will go on sale in early May 2017, at the label's stores and on the Versusversace.com website. Versace also stated that part of the revenue generated by the collection's sales will be donated to charities.

The 23 year old pop star will also be the face of Versus' next two advertising campaigns, one for the Spring/Summer 2017, which will be unveiled next February, and the second for the next winter collection, at the end of 2017.

"Zayn is one of the top personalities on the international showbusiness scene. He has a huge number of followers worldwide. I am sure they will follow us too," enthused Donatella Versace in a press release.

The young singer, also the boyfriend of highly popular top model Gigi Hadid, is well aware of his internet worth, and this is not his first collaboration in the fashion and luxury goods industry.

He has in fact worked with Italian manufacturer Giuseppe Zanotti for a footwear collection to be launched in January. He has also recently launched his own line of streetwear basics, Zayn.
