Since 2001, Martino Pessina has filled in various key roles for the Swedish group and its leading brand. He worked as purchasing controller, then merchandising director for France and subsequently Germany, before being given responsibility for merchandising in Central Europe, and then globally.

In its latest fiscal year, closed at the end of November, the H&M group recorded an 11% increase in sales in local currency. The growth was notably the result of a 9% rise in the third quarter, despite a month of November that was slowed down by excessively warm temperatures in the USA and Europe.
