Oct 15 (Reuters) - Swedish fashion giant Hennes & Mauritz (HMb.ST) said on Friday that sales at its established stores rose 8 percent in September from a year earlier.

The Swedish retailer said that total sales in the month, which includes newly opened stores, were up 16 percent.

The overall sales figure was in line with the 15 percent rise announced for the period of Sept. 1-27 when H&M announced its third quarter results at the end of last month.

H&M, the world's third-biggest clothing retailer by turnover, does not release absolute sales figures, only the percentage change in local currencies.
