Mugler and Nicola Formichetti part ways

After arriving at the helm of Mugler two years ago with the mission of modernizing the fashion house, Nicola Formichetti is leaving as part of a mutual agreement. According to Women’s Wear Daily, management at the Parisian fashion house is expected to unveil a new strategic plan shortly. The Clarins group, which owns the brand, has confirmed the termination of the ultra-mediatized collaboration that drew in a whole new audience for the brand who has a highly lucrative fragrance legacy.

"Nicola has been instrumental in attracting a new audience," said Joël Palix, CEO of the Clarins group.


Under the watch of half-Italian, half-Japanese Formichetti, fashion director for Uniqlo and Vogue Homme Japan, Mugler’s ready-to-wear collections were given a new lease of life attracted a new audience and the brand is now being sold at stores like Opening Ceremony and Lane Crawford. Formichetti also introduced a successful handbag line. Information on both the brand’s and Formichetti’s future should not be long in coming. The latter recently launched his own brand, Nicopanda, which is sold across the world.
