Sainsbury to appoint new chairman

LONDON — Supermarket group Sainsbury is set to appoint David Tyler, current chairman of technology services company Logica, as its new chairman, the Financial Times reported on Monday 14 September.

The daily business newspaper, which did not cite its source, added that the move was expected to be announced within the next few weeks. A company spokesman declined to comment.

The paper added that Tyler would take over from Philip Hampton, who decided to step down after becoming chairman of the state-rescued Royal Bank of Scotland in February.

Tyler was previously finance director of conglomerate GUS, which used to own retail chains Argos and Homebase as well as luxury clothing brand Burberry and business services unit Experian.
