Published
Nov 30, 2015

Leading trade show Denim Première Vision is one of the most important denim events in the fashion calendar, offering visitors a comprehensive platform where buyers, press and professionals can meet the market’s leading weavers, launderers and spinners. Each season, thousands of attendees travel to the Fira Montjuic in Barcelona to discover the latest denim developments, from technologies and finishes to colors, surfaces and trims. The Trendstop team have recently returned from Denim PV’s Spring/Summer 2017 edition, revealing three inspiring sneak peek denim trends hot off the trade show floor for our blog readers. This season’s theme was ‘Mansion of Denim’, with denim collections influenced by natural factors like wind, heat and dry air to create fresh summertime pieces with a contemporary edge.

Frayed at the Edges

A play on detailing sees Spring/Summer denim revisited with frayed edgings for added tactility. Across styles like jackets, jeans and tops, loose thread trimmings soften clean-cut pieces, adding interest to casual looks. Multiple applications enhance the textured effect on a single piece, as seen on pocket seams and waistbands.

Eastern Elegance

Spring/Summer 2017 collections channel a mood of Eastern Elegance. Refined Japanese workwear silhouettes are key in pieces like wide-leg pants and tunic-shaped jackets, while Oriental prints and graphics appear in classic denim shades for a modern twist.

Intensely Indigo

This season, denim expresses a newfound sophistication with this refined color story. Intense indigo shades introduce depth to garments, inspiring a formal undertone on springtime jeans, jackets and shirts. Clean cuts and lightweight fibres complement dark tones.
